Tenor Bill Welch returns during the 2005 -
2006 season to perform the role of Reverend Samuel Parris in The
Crucible, Armfelt (A Masked Ball) and Parpignol (La bohème).
Mr. Welch appeared as Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro), Spoletta (Tosca), Remendado
(Carmen) and the Steersman (Der fliegende Holländer) last
season, and
appeared
as the Notary (Don Pasquale),
Beppe (Pagliacci), and Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus) during
OSJ's 2003 - 2004 season.
Other roles performed with the company include Dr. Caius (Falstaff), Guillot (Manon),Goro
(Madama Butterfly), Ruiz (Il trovatore), and Monostatos
(Die Zauberflöte). Mr. Welch has appeared with the Berkeley Opera as El Remendado
(Carmen) and as Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor)
with Bay Shore Lyric Opera. Other roles performed have included Lippo in
Kurt Weill's Street Scene and the operetta roles of Alfredo (Die Fledermaus) and Ralph Rackstraw (HMS Pinafore).
Concert appearances
include solo performances in Saint-Saens' Christmas Oratorio,
Bach's Mass in B minor and St. Matthew Passion and Verdi's
Requiem.
