Engagements during the 2005 - 2006 season for
LORI PHILLIPS include the title role in Madama Butterfly with
Opera Omaha, the Ice Princess (Rusalka) with the Forth Worth
Symphony, and the title role in Turandot with Nashville
and Indianapolis Opera companies. Ms. Phillips is also engaged to
perform the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos for Vancouver Opera.
Performances during the 2004 - 2005 season included the roles of Ariane
(Ariane
et Barbe Bleue) and the title role in
Turandot, both with New York City Opera.
Other
2004 - 2005 performances included Leonore (Il trovatore) for Florentine
Opera, Senta (Der fliegender Holländer) for Hawaii Opera Theater, the title role of Madama
Butterfly with New York City Opera, Amelia (Un ballo in maschera)
for Vancouver Opera, and the title role in Turandot for Tampa Bay
Performing Arts Center.
In the fall of 2004,
Ms. Phillips
returned to Opera San José to perform at the
inaugural galas for the opening of the 2004 - 2005 season in the
California Theatre.
Other recent engagements include Gertrude (Hansel and Gretel) for
Dallas Opera, Amelia (Ballo in maschera) for Opera Memphis, Minnie
(Fanciulla del West) for Utah Opera and a recording of Beethoven's
Missa Solemnis with the Nashville Symphony, as well as Beethoven's
Symphony # 9 with New West Symphony and Tosca in
Providence. In the fall of
2003, Ms. Phillips sang the title role in Turandot with New York
City Opera and later
repeated the role with Tampa Bay Opera in 2004.
In 2000 Ms.
Phillips sang Senta in Der fliegende Holländer for Sarasota Opera,
Tosca with Utah Opera, Madama Butterfly for Nashville
Opera and Gerhilde in Die Walküre for Dallas Opera.
1998 - 1999 saw her European
debut as Elisabetta in a new production of Don Carlos for Opera
North, with Tim Albery directing and Yves Abel conducting; Fiordiligi (Così
fan tutte) for Virginia Opera, Leonora (Il trovatore) for
Santa Barbara Grand Opera, Patience in the world-premiere of Patience
and Sarah for Lincoln Center Festival and Kostelnicka in Jenûfa
for Sarasota Opera. Ms. Philips also sang Mimì (La bohème) with
Toledo Opera; Elvira (Ernani) with Opera Orchestra of New York
under Eve Queler; the Governess (Turn of the Screw) for Utah Opera,
and Madama Butterfly for Tulsa Opera.
Following her departure from
Opera San José, Ms. Phillips appeared as Amelia in Seattle Opera's production of Un ballo In
maschera. She also made her debut in the title role of Turandot
with Opera Memphis and Nashville Opera. Other appearances included
the role of
Gerhilde in Seattle Opera's new ring cycle and Desdemona in Verdi's
Otello for Nashville Opera.
