Sponsor Profile:  McManis Faulkner & Morgan

McManis, Faulkner & Morgan, a San José law firm, will be a supporting sponsor for La bohème this winter, as it was last season for Bizet's Carmen. An active supporter of the community, MFM encorages its staff to serve on boards and committees of local nonprofit organizations, organize teams to raise funds for local causes, and devote hours to assisting others.

McManis Faulkner & Morgan's practice is almost exclusively litigation.  The firm of twenty lawyers, located in its new offices on the tenth floor of the Knight-Ridder building, accepts cases in such diverse areas as business, civil rights, construction, criminal, employment, family law, class actions, intellectual property, personal injury, probate, and real estate.  Ms. Donelle Morgan, a supporter of Opera San José since its early years, is a certified family law specialist dealing in complex marital dissolution matters.  James McManis is known for his outstanding jury trial work.  He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and listed in "The Best Lawyers in America."  He and partners William Faulkner, Michael Reedy, Colleen Duffy Smith and Sharon Kirsch, assisted by the skilled associate lawyers of the firm, represent clients in cases involving intellectual property, trade secret, copyright and patent issues in a variety of technologies, as well as contract, real property and employment disputes.  For more than three decades, McManis Faulkner & Morgan has represented clients and tried cases with excellent results.

The firm motto - "Excellence, Integrity, and Kindness" - goes far to explain its generosity to Opera San José, and to the other organizations it supports.  "Being a lawyer is more than going to court and representing clients," says Morgan.  "We need to give back to the community that supports us. When we can help an arts organization such as Opera San José, which improves the quality of life for all of us, we are doing what we are meant to do."
