Janelle Laurenti,
Soprano


Returning to Opera San José during the 2005 - 2006 season as Musetta in La bohème and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Janelle Laurenti appeared last season with OSJ as Mercedes in Carmen.  Ms. Laurenti made her company debut during the 2002 - 2003 season as the Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte), and returned during the 2003 - 2004 season  as Prince Orlovsky (Die Fledermaus).  Ms. Laurenti's previous roles include The First Lady (Die Zauberflöte) with Apollo Opera, Frasquita (Carmen) with Sacramento Opera, and the title roles in Carmen and Tosca with Townsend Opera Players. 

Ms. Laurenti was the 1999 Metropolitan Opera National Council Regional Winner as well as the recipient of the Italian Cultural Institute Award (1998), the Gertrude F. Meyer Scholarship (1997 - 1999) and the Manilo Silva Scholarship (1996 - 2000).
