During the 2005 - 2006 season, ROBERTO GOMEZ
performed the role of Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) with
Sacramento Opera in September of 2005 and appeared as Scarpia in San
Francisco Lyric Opera's production of Tosca in March 2006. Mr. Gomez returned to Opera San José during the 2004 - 2005 season to appear in
the role of Angelotti (Tosca). Other 2004 - 2005 performances
included the roles of Leporello (Don Giovanni) and Angelotti
(Tosca) with Pacific Repertory Opera.
Other recent performances featured Mr. Gomez
in the role of Renato (Un ballo in maschera) and Schaunard (La
bohème), both for West Bay Opera, and Falke (Die Fledermaus) with
Townsend Opera. Mr. Gomez has also performed regularly with San Diego Opera
in such works as Turandot, Carmen, Tosca, Rusalka, Madama Butterfly
and Il barbiere di Siviglia.
Internationally, he was seen as Marcello in La bohème with
Shanghai Opera. Locally, Mr. Gomez
appeared in the role of Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette) with Sacramento
Opera, and as Don Andres (La Perichole) with West Bay Opera.
- During the 2001 - 2002 season, Mr.
Gomez appeared as Figaro in Santa Barbara Grand Opera's production of
Il barbiere di Siviglia, the title role in Don Giovanni with
Pasadena Lyric Opera, Marcello in La bohème
with Townsend Opera, and Figaro for Nevada Opera's production of Il
barbiere di Siviglia. He also completed a series of performances in
Finland under the auspices of Los Angeles Opera.
After leaving Opera San José,
Mr. Gomez performed his first Don Giovanni for Pasadena Lyric Opera
to great critical acclaim. While in the Los Angeles area, he also appeared
as Lorek in Los Angeles Opera’s production of Fedora with Placido
Domingo and as Benoit/Alcindoro in the company’s student matinees of La
bohème.
