Barbara Divis,
Soprano

BARBARA DIVIS has been engaged by San Diego Opera to sing the roles of Michaela (Carmen) and First Lady (Die Zauberflöte) in 2006. For Hawaii Opera Theatre, Ms. Divis will perform the roles of Georgetta (Il Tabarro), the title role in Suor Angelica and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) in February of 2006. She is also engaged as soloist in Gala Concerts with Opera Santa Barbara and the San Diego Symphony.

Performances during the 2004 - 2005 season included the title role in Madama Butterfly for both the Taconic and Augusta Opera companies. Ms. Divis also appeared as soprano soloist in Opera Pops with the San Diego Symphony.

Appearances during the 2003 - 2004 season included a joint recital with Gabriel Reoyo-Pazos under the auspices of West Bay Opera, concerts with San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and the role of Liu in Turandot with Austin Lyric Opera. For Arizona Opera, she made her debut performance in the role of Georgetta in Il Tabarro in Fall 2004.

Engagements during 2002 - 2003  featured Ms. Divas in the role of Micaela (Carmen) with Santa Barbara Grand Opera and Violetta in Tacoma Opera's production of La traviata. Concert performances featured the soprano as soloist in Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass with the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra in July of 2002, as soloist in San Diego Symphony's Opera Pops concert, and she appeared with "Singing Cop" Daniel Rodriguez in Concert in the Park series in Long Island, New York. Ms. Divis also appeared in the role of Amelia in West Bay Opera’s production of Un ballo in maschera in February of 2003.

After leaving OSJ in 2000, Ms.Divis  appeared as the First Lady in Die Zauberflöte and Lula in Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree, both with San Diego Opera in January of 2001, and sang the role of Nedda in Nevada Opera’s production of Pagliacci in November. Ms. Divis also was a soloist with the Long Island Symphony at the Tilles Center in New York in late 2001.
