In the 2005 - 2006
season, resident artist Lori Decter appears as Amelia (A Masked Ball),
Mimì (La bohème) , and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni). During the
2004 - 2005 season, Ms. Decter appeared as Countess Almaviva
(Le nozze di Figaro), the title role in Tosca,
Micaëla (Carmen),
and Senta (Der fliegender Holländer).
Other roles performed with Opera San Josè include
Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Rosalinde
(Die
Fledermaus),Clorinda (La
cenerentola), Leonora (Il trovatore), Pamina (Die
Zauberflöte), Alice Ford
(Falstaff), Fiordiligi (Così
fan tutte), and First Lady (Die Zauberflöte). For
West Bay Opera, Ms. Decter sang the role of Donna Elvira for the company's
production of Mozart's Don Giovanni in spring 2004.
Ms. Decter is a frequent soloist in
concerts and recitals throughout the Bay Area. In spring 2004
she appeared in the SJSU Artist Showcase Concert in honor of retiring
professor Dr. Charlene Archibeque. Her concert repertoire includes Schubert's Mass in G and Magnificat, Mozart's Coronation Mass,
and Saint-Saens' Christmas Oratorio.
- Recent awards include Fourth Place in the 2001 Anton Guadagno
Vocal Competition sponsored by Palm Beach Opera, National Semi-finalist for the 2001
Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, International Finalist for the 2001 Gerda
Lissner Foundation Auditions in New York City, in which she received an Encouragement
Award, as well as First Place in the San José Music Study Club and Henry and Maria Holt
Memorial Scholarship competitions in 2000.
