Resident artist Deborah Berioli returns to Opera San José during the 2005 - 2006 season to appear in the roles of Elizabeth Proctor (The Crucible), Amelia (A Masked Ball), Mimì (La bohème), and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni). Ms. Berioli made her company debut during the 2004 - 2005 season performing the roles of Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), the title role in Tosca, Micaëla (Carmen), and Senta (Der fliegende Holländer)

Ms. Berioli made her Carnegie Hall debut in April 2000 with New England Symphonic Ensemble performing the Requiems of Mozart and Fauré, and returned during the 2001 - 2002 season as a soloist in Poulenc's Gloria. Other operatic experience includes performances with the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Sarasota Opera Company, Orchestra of St. Luke's at Lincoln Center, Minnesota Opera Company and Des Moines Metro Opera Company. Ms. Berioli's role repetoire includes Mimì (La bohème), Liu (Turandot), the title role of Madama Butterfly as well as Marguerite (Faust), Antonia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and The Governess (The Turn of the Screw).

Other concert appearances have featured Ms. Berioli as soloist with Minnesota Orchestra and St. Paul's Cathedral Orchestra. Most recently, Ms. Berioli was a featured soloist with Santa Cruz Symphony in their performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and with the Redwood Symphony in their performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 2. She is an accomplished recitalist, having performed art song recitals throughout the New York Metropolitan area.

Her awards include third place in the New Jersey State Opera International Competition (2002), and first place in the Metropolitan National Council, Upper Mid-Western Auditions.
